Pete Doherty let out of jail

London (ANI): English musician Pete Doherty was let out of prison on May 06, much to the dismay of anti-drug campaigners. Doherty, who had been imprisoned for failing to turn up for court drug tests, was given a 14-week sentence of which he served only 29 days. "They should have made an example of him, not let him go," The Sun quoted ex-Flying Squad chief John O'Connor as saying.

Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones, Tory candidate for nearby Chippenham was not very happy that Doherty, who had got back to his home in Marlborough, Wilts, was released early. "It sends the wrong message that he is released early," he said. The Babyshambles star had left London's Wormwood Scrubs at 7am, hitching a ride home from jail, as his manager did not turn up.

The singer, who had left the prison with a certificate saying he had passed drug tests and adding: "Well done", was asked what he planned to do next. "Have a rum and coke and see my cats," he replied. The certificate certifying him as being drug free is a little hard to believe especially when The Sun had photographed him with drugs in his cell and revealed that he injected heroin in the jail detox unit. Meanwhile, Doherty's ex-girlfriend 36-year-old Lisa Moorish has told him that he has to buy her a home or she won't let him see their 5-year-old son Astile.
