'I
have
never
seen
this
kind
of
a
film
function
in
my
life!!'
–
This
was
the
statement
given
by
Bollywood
director
Sooraj
Barjatya
of
the
legendary
Rajshree
productions
after
watching
the
grand
launch
of
Vikram
starrer
Kandasamy,
yesterday
at
Chennai.
The
function
was
held
at
Devi
Paradise
theatre,
Anna
Salai
after
a
long
time.
Almost
all
the
top
producers
and
directors
of
Kollywood
and
other
languages
attended
the
event
amidst
a
huge
crowd.
The
theatre
was
colorfully
lit
for
the
grand
occasion,
and
the
cast
and
crew
of
Kandasamy,
including
Vikram
and
Shriya
were
among
those
present
on
the
occasion.
Vikram,
the
hero
of
the
film,
had
a
dramatic
entry
when
music
director
Devi
Sri
Prasad
invited
him
on
stage.
It
was
Shreya
who
grabbed
all
the
attention
at
the
function.
She
looked
gorgeous
and
spoke
a
few
words
to
a
cheering,
enthusiastic
crowd.
Vikram
and
Shreya
did
a
small
dance
number
to
the
tunes
of
Devi
Sri
Prasad's
foot
tapping
music,
which
had
the
audience
asking
for
more.
What
made
the
function
more
meaningful
was
the
announcement
of
the
director
that
the
crew
of
Kandasamy
was
adopting
two
villages
in
the
Madurai
district
to
render
developmental
activities.
The
two
villages,Sangampatti
and
Gandhi
Naga,
lacked
infrastructure
facilities,
and
the
Kandasamy
crew
had
been
to
the
village
to
oversee
provision
of
welfare
measures.
It
was
a
brainwave
idea
of
director
Susi
Ganeshan,
as
the
basic
theme
of
the
film
is
about
a
Robin
Hood
type
vigilante
who
goes
about
providing
justice
to
the
poor
and
needy.
Speaking
on
the
occasion,
Susi
Ganeshan,
the
director
of
the
movie,
said,
"we
have
chosen
to
launch
the
movie
in
a
unique
way,
as
we
have
adopted
two
villages
as
a
welfare
measure.
We
are
providing
infrastructure
facilities,
including
schools,
roads
and
drinking
water
facilities
for
them.
The
movie
dwells
on
the
theme
of
development
of
rural
areas".
Vikram
appeared
as
Kandasamy
on
the
dais
and
assured
that
he
will
always
strive
for
creating
an
equitable
society.Inspired
by
the
crew's
noble
work
in
those
villages,
Abhirami
Ramanathan
also
announced
that
he
will
adopt
his
native
village,
Poolan
Kurichi
in
Sivagangai
district,
that
very
moment.
The
trailer
screened
on
the
occasion
won
the
admiration
of
many.
Among
those
present
on
the
occasion
included
Film
Chamber
president
KRG,
directors
Shankar,
Kalaipuli
G.
Sekaran,
K
S
Ravikumar,
Poet
Vairamuthu,
actors
Bharath
and
Arun
Vijay.
Sun

gave
live

to
this
event.
