Sathyaraj
said
that
he
is
gearing
to
start
shooting
for
film
Periyar's
sequel.
The
second
installment
of
the
film
will
document
many
stories
that
form
the
great
Tamil
leaders
legacy.
Two
days
back,
a
private
organization
from
Coimbatore
(Bimbam
Thiraipada
Iyakkam)
felicitated
the
cast
of
Periyar
for
the
success
of
the
movie.
At
the
function
Sathyaraj
said,
"It
was
one
of
my
goals
to
play
the
role
of
Periyar
onscreen.
Now
I
have
taken
it
upon
myself
to
act
in
the
sequel
to
the
film.
I
hope
that
I
would
be
able
to
convey,
through
the
film,
the
ideals
of
the
great
leaders
revolutionary
thinking
and
impact
society
with
them.
After
his
return
to
Chennai,
an
oneindia.in
correspondent
contacted
him
over
the
phone
and
asked
him
about
his
plans
to
act
in
the
Periyar
sequel.
He
said,
''I
have
never
had
any
big
plans
when
I
entered
films.
Even
now,
I
don't.
When
I
made
my
debut
as
a
junior
artiste,
I
was
well
accepted
by
the
Tamil
film
audience
-
the
result
of
which
I
am
a
recognized
actor
in
the
field."
He
added,
"No
doubt,
Periyar
is
a
once
in
lifetime
film.
Being
an
ardent
follower
of
Periyar,
I
played
him
in
the
film
without
hesitation.
Now
I
would
like
to
act
in
the
sequel
to
Periyar.
The
first
part
of
the
film
served
the
purpose
of
introducing
the
great
man
to
the
present
Tamil
audience.
Te
sequel
to
it
will
have
a
message
for
the
youth
of
the
state.
On
the
commercial
side,
the
film
has
been
doing
well
in
theatres
with
good
reports
from
the
box
office.
The
success
f
the
film
had
forced
the
Dravidar
Kazhagam
Campus
to
take
up
the
shooting
of
the
sequel.
But
it
is
known
whether
or
not
CM
MK
Karunanidhi
will
grant
another
95
lakhs
for
the
film
like
he
did
for
the
first
one.
