Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar
Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar – the name is still known as a magical chant in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu. Almost all the political outfits are still using Thevar's name to hunt the vote bank of lakhs and lakhs of his followers.

Thevar, one of greatest leaders of our nation and great freedom fighter, who served under Nethaji Subash Chandra Bose for years ruled the Mukkalathor community even after his death.

Many have tried their level best to portray the life history of Thevar in the medium of celluloid, but not succeeded that much. For the first time, MP Abraham Lincoln, a journalist turned film director has succeeded in giving a full shape to a complete documentary film on Muthuramalinga Thevar.

IB Karthikeyan of Papillon Communications, which has several years of experience in the advertising world, is the backbone for all the efforts of Abraham to complete the documentary on the life and times of Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar. The documentary is being released on the occasion of Thevar's 100th anniversary.

Titled Pasumpon Thevar Varalaru, the documentary narrates the story of Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar, who worked for the poor and downtrodden people. Muthuramalinga Thevar was born in the Pasumpon Village in Madurai district on 30th October 1908 and died on the same 30th October 1963, had committed himself to uplift the people of his region. Yes, his birth and death anniversary falls on the same date!

To present the true picture about Thevar's life history, Papilon Communications has made a documentary after carrying out meticulous research on his life. The documentary running for about 1 hr 15 minutes narrates with proof the service of Thevar in the freedom struggle and his contributions after the country became free.

Abraham, the director of the film said, "I'm not vaguely giving any information on the great personality Thevar Ayya. In fact, I was impressed a lot once I visited his Samadhi, at the time of Guru Pooja. There are lakhs and lakhs of people assemble at his 'samadhi' every year (around 30 lakhs in a same day!) and pay their homage to their great leader. Till now, he is ruling the region like a god. This forced me to go for an extensive research work on Thevar's life. I tried my level best in presenting the life sketch of Thevar in this film without any biased approach. I know how much impact this film can be made on the people, who love Thevar like their heart."

He further said, "In this documentary, I touched some controversial events like the Keezhathooval (Muthukulathur) violence and Thevar's arrest too. I made some extensive journey to explore the facts behind these incidents and taken interviews of some of the persons, who witnessed for and affected in the violence, which add more authenticity to the film."

Abraham used 30 minutes video of Thevar that was picturised in Burma when Thevar was in Nethaji's INA in the film. With the help of the video, he created Thevar's image with advanced 3D technology and animation to depict some of the sequences where no video footage is available.

The documentary features three songs penned by Yugabharathi set to music by Vijay Antony and actor Vagai Chandrasekhar has lent his voice for narration.

Abraham Lincoln has served as a new man for several years with various dailies including Daily Thanthi, Kathiravan, Dhinamalar and Tamilmurasu. The documentary is based on solid research backed by sufficient evidence for all the incidents narrated.

The Censor Board has certified the film as U. According to Abraham, the film will hit the screens state wide like a feature film in the first week of March.
