Last
time
when
Priyadarshan
directed
a
Tamil
movie
in
2008,
it
went
on
to
grab
two
National
Awards.
Now,
the
Kanchivaram
team
is
back
and
is
apparently
aiming
for
many
more
such
rewards.
On
board
are
a
bunch
of
elite
technicians
like
cinematographer
Santosh
Sivan
and
art
director
Sabu
Cyril.
Director
AL
Vijay
will
be
bankrolling
this
film,
which
will
serve
a
higher
purpose
than
just
entertainment.
It
is
said
that
the
team
is
targeting
film
festivals
and
that
the
movie
will
create
a
social
awareness
on
AIDS,
which
is
still
a
menace
all
over
the
globe.
Apart
from
retaining
the
main
cast
from
Kanchivaram
(Prakash
Raj
and
Sriya
Reddy),
the
maverick
director
has
planned
to
rope
in
14
new
performers,
according
to
a
credible
source.
So
is
another
Kanchivaram
on
the
cards?
Priyadarshan
in
an
interview
has
said
otherwise,
"though
the
film
is
message
oriented,
it
will
not
fail
to
make
the
audience
laugh
as
it
is
not
a
morbid
film".
Morbid
or
not,
a
film
created
for
the
goodness
of
mankind
has
to
be
appreciated
and
with
a
crew
like
this,
it
can
be
safely
said
that
this
upcoming
film
is
poised
to
achieve
big.
Take
a
look
at
the
slides
below
to
know
about
all
the
5
Tamil
movies
directed
by
Priyadarshan
Chinnamanikkuyile
actually
marked
the
Tamil
debut
of
Priyadarshan.
But
unfortunately,
this
Karthik
starrer
did
not
make
it
to
the
big
screen
for
reasons
unknown.
Gopura
Vasalile
After
the
silver
screen
failed
to
embrace
his
first
Tamil
film,
Priyadarshan
found
success
through
Gopura
Vasalile
which
subsequently
became
his
first
Tamil
film.
Snegithiye
After
a
gap
of
9
years,
Priyadarshan
once
again
made
his
presence
felt
in
Kollywood
through
Snegithiye
which
released
in
the
year
2000.
The
film
was
also
made
in
Malayalam.
Lesa
Lesa
Partially
adapted
from
the
1998
Malayalam
film
Summer
in
Bethlehem,
Lesa
Lesa
was
Priyadarshan's
third
film
in
Tamil.
It
had
Shaam,
Trisha,
Vivek
and
Madhavan
in
key
roles.
Harris
Jayaraj
had
composed
the
music.
Kanchivaram
Kanchivaram
released
in
the
year
2008
and
went
on
to
capture
many
hearts.
Rightly
so,
the
film
was
honoured
with
two
National
Awards
including
the
Best
Film
and
Best
Actor
won
by
Prakash
Raj.
Untitled
Project
Having
retained
Prakash
Raj
and
Sriya
Reddy
from
the
cast
of
Kanchivaram,
a
lot
is
expected
from
Priyadarshan's
next
straight
Tamil
movie.
