However, netizens say many accusations about Mari Selvaraj's mistakes in Maamannan story and visuals. Although the praises for the film Mamannan are pouring in on one side, on the other side, two types of objections have arisen, which has caused a great debate.

Udhayanihi As MGR

People say that just like how MGR got a big place in politics by acting as a scheduled caste person in his films, Mari Selvaraj made this film in an attempt to make Udayanidhi as MGR by talking about the politics of people who were suppressed in the society.

If a hero other than Udayanidhi had been cast, there would have been no such criticism. Criticisms are gathering that Udayanidhi also acted in this story for his own political gain and not for social concern.

While the first half of the film was fast paced, the second half is a major setback for the film. In the story of meeting and defeating the villain in the election field, there is no strong scenes in the second half except the final climax touch.

They also comment that with the character of Sunil, Mari Selvaraj has planted the poisonous seed that the so-called upper caste people will have the same state of mind in any given situation, whereas he failed to register not even a single character in Fahadh's house with a neutral thought process.
