Hyderabad: Recently, it was reported that Akkineni Nagarjuna would play a pivotal role in the Telugu movie Sri Jagadguru Adi Shankara. But it was not revealed what role he would reprise in this devotional film. Now, the producers of this mega-budget flick have unleashed the details and first look of the King's role in it.
Actor Nagarjuna is playing the crucial role of Chandaludu in Sri Jagadguru Adi Shankara, while debutante actor Kaushik appears in the title role. Aadi Sankara meeting Chandaludu in Kaasi is one of the major incidents in the life of Aadi Sankara. Critically acclaimed director K Raghavendra Rao has guest-directed this portion, while S Gopal Reddy handles the camera work. Nagarjuna and Kaushik had taken part in the filming of this portion.
However, Sri Jagadguru Adi Shankara is based on the life of iconic 9th century saint from Kerala, Adi Sankaracharya, who consolidated the doctrine of advaita vedanta. Renowned script writer JK Bharavi, who has earlier written story for hit devotional movies like Annamayya and Sri Manjunatha, is now directing this film, which also features Mohan Babu in an important role. Megastar Chiranjeevi has also given his voice-over for the introductory portion of the movie.
