Red sarees are the traditional choice for brides in Indian culture. However, it has become hot fetish on screen and many actress have opted for this hot costume to enhance their glam quotient on screen.
Talking about red saree, fashion designer Rina Dhaka says that red will never go unnoticed. Saree is the sexiest form of drape and the idea of baring the required and concealing the rest all the more makes it very sexy. "It is a whole nine yard of fabric that makes you look super sexy and stylish, whereas other stitched garments would fail and with the combination of red it is nothing but classic," DNA quotes Rina as saying.
Another renowned fashion designer Ritu Kumar points out that red sarees are evocative of the best of a woman's charm. Red as a colour has a very strong appeal in India as it connotes wedding, fertility and auspicious occasions. She adds that red sarees never go out of fashion as they are more than fashion and symbolise a way of life.
Bollywood's tryst with the red saree can be traced back to late 1960s. This trend got extended to Tollywood in early 1970s. The legacy of the red saree has been carried forward till today, and several Telugu actresses have popularised this trend lately. Today, many actresses tryst with red saree to unveil their hotness quotient on screen.
