JK Bharavi is a well-known dialogue writer, screenwriter and actor. He has already penned screenplays for some best devotional movies like Annamayya, Sree Ramadasu, Sri Manjunatha and Pandurangadu, which have proved to be successful both critically as well as commercially. Now, he has turned director with his latest biographical-devotional film Sri Jagadguru Adi Shankara, which is a treat for family audience this Vara Mahalaxmi festive season. He has tried his best to prove his mettle as director.

Sri Jagadguru Adi Shankara is a brave attempt by JK Bharavi and great performances by Kaushik, Nagarjuna, Mohan Babu and Srihari are the main attraction in the movie. Nag Srivathsav's music and background score, beautiful picturisation, Bharavi's screenplay and meaningful dialogues, brilliant art direction and costumes are other highlights of the film. But visual effects and CGI work spoils its beauty.

The movie is based on the life of iconic 9th century saint Adi Sankaracharya, who consolidated the doctrine of Advaita Vedanta. This saint from Kerala is considered as the manifestation of sanatana dharma - Hinduism. He is regarded as the reincarnation of Lord Siva. JK Bharavi has penned screenplay and dialogues for the film.

It opens with Megastar Chiranjeevi's voice-over. Narrating the greatness of Adi Sankaracharya, Chiru's voice sets a perfect tone for the film. Then it heads to narrate the story of the saint. The crux of the story is the clash between Chandaludu and Lord Siva. Continue to read the story and Sri Jagadguru Adi Shankara movie review in the slideshow.
