Shaakuntalam,
an
epic
fantasy
love
story
picked
up
from
the
mythological
saga
titled
Shakuntala,
written
by
Kalidasa,
is
the
biggest
flop
in
the
actress's
career.
Directed
by
Gunasekhar,
the
movie
hit
the
screens
as
a
pan-India
venture
on
April
14.
Shaakuntalam
bagged
a
load
of
negative
comments,
and
bad
reviews,
and
also
has
left
a
big
dent
for
its
producers,
who
invested
a
whopping
on
this
movie
which
demands
a
high
amount
due
to
its
story,
setting,
costumes,
and
VFX.
A
couple
of
days
before
its
theatrical
release,
the
producers
of
the
movie
organized
a
special
premiere
of
the
film,
which
dampened
the
opening
day
collections.
Against
a
budget
of
Rs
65
Crore,
the
movie
could
only
make
Rs
20
Crore.
However,
surprisingly,
Shaakuntalam
reportedly
won
four
awards
at
the
International
Cannes
Film
Festival.
