Raghava
Lawrence,
who
got
an
unexpected
success
with
Muni
in
2007,
is
back
with
its
sequel
titled
Kanchana.
He
has
roped
in
Sarath
Kumar
and
Lakshmi
Rai
to
play
the
lead
roles
in
the
horror-flick.
Now,
let
us
see
what
they
have
offered.
Story:
Raghava
(Raghava
Lawrence)
is
suffering
from
Achluophobia(Fear
of
darkness).
His
life
will
be
normal
until
he
lands
himself
in
a
devil's
trap.
He
accidentally
invites
trouble,
when
he
hits
a
dead
body
with
a
wicket
while
he
was
playing
cricket.
Soon,
he
is
tormented
by
evil
spirits
and
starts
acting
weirdly.
His
tastes
on
dress
changes
and
starts
wearing
sarees
like
hijra.
Later,
it
is
revealed
that
he
has
become
a
victim
of
Kanchana
(Sarath
Kumar).The
rest
of
the
film
should
be
seen
on-screen.
Performance
It
has
been
proved
time
and
again
that
Raghava
Lawrence
is
unfit
to
act
in
a
lead
role.
Yet,
he
has
tried
it
to
show
the
audience
that
he
can
perform.
Though,
he
looked
good
in
some
costumes,
still
it
is
not
enough
to
win
the
hearts
of
the
audience
with
his
attires
alone.
Has
he
cast
any
other
actor
in
the
role,
the
movie
could
have
done
better.
Lakshmi
Rai
is
good
at
parts.
In
her
limited
role,
she
has
done
justice
to
her
character
and
she
looks
hot
in
some
songs.
Sarath
Kumar
steals
the
show
with
his
remarkable
performance.
Rest
other
casts
are
okay.
Technical:
Vetri
should
be
lauded
for
his
excellent
cinematography.
He
has
captured
the
key
scenes
with
ease.
Music
by
Thaman
is
not
worthy.
However,
background
score
in
Kanchana
is
good.
Raghava
Lawrence,
who
has
penned
story,
screenplay
and
directed
Kanchan,
gets
decent
marks
in
direction
department.
The
writer
in
him
has
able
to
give
the
audience
some
spine-chilling
moments.
At
parts,
the
story
looks
good
and
making
a
movie
on
the
troubles
facey
by
hijera
is
a
good
concept.
But
had
he
etched
a
better
good
screenplay,
the
movie
would
surely
have
won
at
the
box-office.
Verdict:
Kanchana
offers
scary
moments
at
parts
and
masses
might
like
the
movie.
