Chennai Express (17 Days) 3rd Weekend Collection At Box Office

Two-week-old movie Chennai Express starring Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in leads, has continued to keep the cash register ringing at the Indian Box Office in the third week. Undeterred by new release Madras Cafe, the Rohit Shetty-directed flick has done superb collection in the third weekend. It has landed in the second place, while the new release topped the domestic business chart.

Chennai Express had collected Rs 156.70 crores in the domestic market in the first week. In the second week, the movie gave a tough feat to new release Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara, which is almost faded away in its second week. Trade experts predicted that Madras Cafe, which is one of the most-talked about films of the year, would silence the roaring of Chennai Express in its third week, but it could not.


The Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer has maintained rock-steady in the domestic market. Chennai Express garnered a decent response on its third Friday and its business grew up many-fold on the following days. The movie has collected Rs 10.48 crores nett at the Indian Box Office in the third weekend and its breakup is Rs 2.12 cr on Fri, Rs 3.61 cr on Sat and Rs 4.75 cr on Sun.

Chennai Express has collected a total of Rs 211.03 crores nett at the Indian Box Office in 17 days. It has become all time highest grosser in Hindi cinema, beating Aamir Khan's Blockbuster movie 3 Idiots, which was topping the list with its life-time collection Rs 202 crores nett.
