Rakesh Roshan's latest directorial venture Krrish 3, the third installment in the Krrish series, has got an overwhelming response in India. Although its business was affected by the Diwali festivities, the Hrithik Roshan starrer has done astounding collection at the Indian Box Office in the first weekend. It has become biggest opener for Hrithik, beating the three days record of his previous outing Agneepath in the domestic market.
Krrish 3 started on a historic note with 85% occupancy in multiplexes and 100% occupancy in single screens on Friday. The Hrithik Roshan, Kangna Ranaut and Priyanka Chopra starrer collected Rs 25.5 crores nett at the Indian Box Office on first day. With this, the sci-fi film smashed the opening day record of Agneepath, which was the biggest opener in Hrithik's career with its collection - Rs 23 crores nett.
The much-hyped movie Krrish 3 was expected to witness a big jump on the following days. Having garnered mixed talk, the film dipped by 10% on Saturday. Although its business went up on Sunday, it remained lower when compared to its opening day collection. The film, which released with Hindi, Tamil, Telugu versions, has collected Rs 72.8 crores nett at the Indian Box Office in first weekend. Its breakup is Rs 25.5 cr on Fri, Rs 23 cr on Sat and Rs 24.3 cr on Sun.
Shahrukh Khan's recent release Chennai Express, which is the all time highest grosser Hindi movie, had collected Rs 93.67 crores at the Indian Box Office in the first weekend. Including its business (Rs 6.75 cr) in paid previews, its first-weekend collection had crossed Rs 100 crore mark. Having released in nearly 4,000 screens in the domestic market, Krrish 3 was expected to beat the record of the SRK starrer, but the superhero film has fallen back with a big margin.
