Shontaan Vs Khadaan (Bengali) Box Office Collection Day 4: As this year comes to a close, the Bengali film industry has treated its fans with an array of releases with varied genres. Among the wide releases last Friday, the two Bengali films that have been grabbing all the attention are - 'Shontaan' and 'Khadaan'. While 'Khadaan' marks superstar Dev's return to the massy genre, 'Shontaan' marks the reunion of director Raj Chakrabarty with his 'Parineeta' actors Subhashree Ganguly and Ritwick Chakraborty after almost 5 years. Both Khadaan and Shontaan, released on 20th December, have been well-received by the audience, but there is a huge difference between their box office report cards.

Directed by Raj Chakraborty, Shontaan is sentimental drama that shows an old-age couple, being neglected by their only son, played by Ritwick Chakraborty. Besides Subhashree and Ritwick, the Bengali-language film also features veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty, Anashua Majumdar in the lead alongside Kharaj Mukherjee and Sohini Sengupta in important roles.
Amid decent buzz, Shontaan opened to a box office collection of Rs 11 lakhs, as reported by Sacnilk. Due to the positive word-of-mouth, the film saw significant jump in numbers in the first weekend and collected around Rs 18 lakhs (day 2) and Rs 31 (day 3) lakhs respectively. According to the latest Sacnilk report, Shontaan saw a sharp drop in mubers yesterday (day 4) and managed to earn Rs 12 lakhs only. The total nett collection of the Subhashree-starrer stands at Rs 72 lakhs.

Actor-turned-politician Deepak Adhikari aka Dev is riding high on the success of his latest release, Khadaan. The Soojit Dutta directorial boasts an interesting ensemble of actors like Dev, Jisshu Sengupta, Barkha Bisht, and Anirban Chakrabarti along with Idhika Paul. Amid high buzz, the movie collected Rs 68 lakhs on the day of its release.
As per Sacnilk, Dev's Khadaan raked in Rs 76 lakhs on Saturday and Rs 1.12 cr on Sunday. According to the latest Sacnilk updates, the movie maintained its strong hold at ticket counters yesterday despite a sharp drop on first Monday. The film scored Rs 57 lakhs on first Monday, taking the total nett collection to Rs 3.13 cr in 4 days.

And we have a clear winner! Dev's Khadaan has passed the first Monday test with flying colours, leaving Subhashree's Shontaan way behind. On first Monday (Dec 23), the Dev-starrer raked in nearly 5x more than what Subhashree's film collected yesterday. Overall, Dev's Khadaan is leading the clash with Subhashree's Shontaan by a solid margin of around Rs 2.41 cr.
