Something very similar happened with former Miss World and Cannes OG actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who made an appearance at the prestigious 69th Cannes Film Festival. Back in 2016, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan walked the festival's red carpet wearing a floral gown and purple lipstick, which attracted a lot of flak online.

In 2016, Rai attended the screening of her movie Sarbjit and opted to go bold and not play it safe with her look. She wore lavender-blue lipstick with her flower-strewn Rami Kadi off-shoulder dress. To complete her dramatic look, she added gothic eyes and a high ponytail.

Well, purple lipstick is one of the most condemned shades on the red carpet, and Aishwarya was brutally trolled for her look. Her look didn't go well with people, and she faced nasty backlash for her choice.

As soon as Aishwary's experimental look was out, it went viral, and everybody on social media was judging the superstar for her styling choice at the prestigious film festival. Though some lauded her fashion-forwardness, many found it meme-worthy, and she got trolled. Making it one of the most memorable incidents.

Ridiculing her look back then, a social media user had said, "Aishwarya's lips are all over But can't blame the trolls. Looks like she ate a lot of Jaamuns before going to the red carpet." Another asked, "Did Aishwarya kiss a smurf this time before she walked the red carpet at Cannes?"

It was Aishwarya's 15th appearance at Cannes, and even after being trolled, she remained unaffected by all the trolling and what the fashion police thought about her choices.

In an interview, she said, "I am an actor by my career choice. I enjoy fashion and I treat it like art and I have a life, a family. So, I am not focusing on all of this. So it (look) doesn't stress me out.. It doesn't make me nervous.. I am a professional."
