Maatrubhumi Story

Maatrubhumi is an upcoming war movie directed by Apoorva Lakhia, featuring Salman Khan in lead role. The film also stars an extensive supporting cast, including Chitrangda Singh, Abhilash Chaudhary, Ankur Bhatia, Vipin Bhardwaj, Zeyn Shaw, Heera Sohal, Nirbhay Chaudhary, Siddharth Mooley, Abhishree Sen, and many more. The movie is produced by Salma Khan under Salman Khan Films. 

Plot

The film is a cinematic retelling of the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops in Ladakh. It portrays the brutal hand-to-hand combat fought with makeshift weapons due to firearm restrictions. Salman Khan plays Colonel B. Santosh Babu, who led the 16 Bihar Regiment with extraordinary courage and was posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra. The story highlights raw patriotism, betrayal amid diplomacy, and the extreme physical and mental toll of high-altitude warfare.

Release Date

The film Maatrubhumi is scheduled for a theatrical release in August 2026. Originally titled Battle of Galwan, the makers have renamed it Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace to reflect its focus on peace and remembrance.
