Phillauri is about an NRI guy, played by Suraj Sharma, who is a 'manglik'. To solve this problem, he is asked to marry a tree first.
This tree is also the home of Shashi (Anushka Sharma), a friendly ghost, who tells Suraj to accept her as his bride. There is also a flashback angle where Shashi is in love with a folk singer, played by Diljit Dosanjh.
Phillauri is Anushka's second production venture after NH10. The actress has produced the movie with brother Karnesh Sharma under her banner Clean Slate Films.
