Shabana Azmi Rushed To Hospital After Being Injured In Car Accident On Mumbai-Pune Expressway

Veteran Bollywood actress Shabana Azmi was injured after she met with an accident on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Saturday, January 18. Her car reportedly rammed into a truck near the Khalapur toll plaza in Navi Mumbai. Shabana Azmi and her husband Javed Akhtar were on their way to Khandala, where they have a holiday home. Shabana was in a Tata Safari but Javed was travelling in a different car and was not injured. The accident occurred around 3:30 pm.

An injured Shabana was admitted to the MGM Hospital in Panvel and later shifted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute in Andheri west, Mumbai. Javed Akhtar and Farhan Akhtar were with Shabana in the hospital, and she was visited by actors like Anil Kapoor and Tabu, among others.

Amlesh Kamat, the driver of Shabana's car was also injured in the accident. According to latest reports, a first information report has been registered against Kamat by the truck driver for rash driving.

Shabana Azmi and her family recently celebrated Javed Akhtar's 75th birthday. The celebrations were attended by many Bollywood stars such as Aamir Khan, Richa Chadha, Hrithik Roshan, Divya Dutta, and Javed's kids Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar.

Bollywood celebrities like Lata Mangeshkar, Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor, Swara Bhasker, Shatrughan Sinha, Hansal Mehta, Guauhar Khan and some more, tweeted a speedy recovery to Shabana Azmi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also tweeted, saying, "The news of @AzmiShabana Ji's injury in an accident is distressing. I pray for her quick recovery."
