Ent Highlights: Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan Takes Over Burj Khalifa, Kareena, Kiara & Suhana Make Glam Appearance

Last year, Twinkle Khanna enrolled herself in a Fiction Writing master's program at the University of London. The actress-turned-writer has now completed her degree. Twinkle took to Instagram to share the news with a video clip and captioned it as, "A year of reading, analyzing, figuring out what even eighth graders know these days, how to do citations, dealing with assignments and submissions, and finally, by handing in my dissertation, it all comes to an end. I thought that handing in my final dissertation would be like breaking out of an academic escape room. But instead of celebrating, I am feeling lost because something that has been such a large part of my life for an entire year is now over."

During an interview with Ranveer Allahabadia on his podcast, Sunny Deol recalled an incident where his father Dharmendra had abused a house help. He revealed, “Dadi has had such a great influence on me. She was such a giving woman. She’d easily scold her own if they were wrong. I remember, one time my father got angry at the servant and abused him. Biji heard this, and she was furious. She called the servant over and told him ‘Tu bhi gali de (abuse him in return)’. That’s the kind of person she was. She’d never let go a wrong just because one of her own did it. These are the people I grew up around; my grandfather, my granny, my mom. I always say that a child is the output of where you grow, what your family is all about.”

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap recently revealed that his movie Gangs of Wasseypur was pulled from cinema halls to make way for Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger. Speaking to Indian Express, Anurag Kashyap opened up on how Hindi cinema is controlled by the box office and star system. He said, "I think because Hindi has a template. It is also heavily controlled by the trade, box office, and star system. The latter is there even in the South but look at the Tamil film industry, they’ve given five hits with first-time filmmakers and not with big stars. There’s a certain kind of equality. In Malayalam, they don’t do so many promotions, just straight-up drop their films. In Tamil Nadu, everyone gets to be promoted with an equal amount, there’s a ceiling to it. But here, a big film’s promotion will dominate and a small film will disappear." He then added, "Even theater owners don’t give space, but equal space is given there. Today, people talk highly about Gangs of Wasseypur, but it was taken off cinemas in nine days because a big film like Ek Tha Tiger was coming. It wasn’t the decision of a star or a producer, it was the decision of the theatres. If that film had done a business of Rs 26 cr in nine days, it would have done more if it got space."

Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday starrer comedy drama movie Dream Girl 2 has completed its first week on September 1. Directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa and produced by Ekta Kapoor, the film has remained steady in its earnings. On day 7, the film showed a slight growth and earned Rs 8 crore, taking its total collection to 67.5 crore. It was released on August 25 and opened at Rs 10.7 crore.

Kartik Aaryan will headline the third part of Anurag Basu’s musical Aashiqui. According to recent reports, the makers have finalised the leading lady of the film, who will be Akanksha Sharma. Media outlet ETimes quoted a source saying, "Akanksha has had multiple meetings with the makers of the film, and there is a possibility that things might get locked. Akanksha is a fresh new face and makers of ‘Aashiqui’ have always looked out for fresh pairings; be it Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal or Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur."
