In a saddening turn of events, legendary actress Kamini Kaushal, known as one of the finest actresses of Indian cinema, passed away at the age of 98. The heartbreaking news was shared by senior journalist Vicky Lalwani on his official Instagram handle.
While the exact reason behind her demise is still unknown, the death report has been confirmed by one og his sources. Announcing the same, Lalwani wrote in his captioned, "Confirming the news, a source said, "Kamini Kaushal's family is extremely low profile, and needs privacy.""
Who Was Kamini Kaushal?
Born as Uma Kashyap on 24 February 1927 in Lahore, Kamini Kaushal had played the lead heroine in films from 1946 to 1963 and had worked with legendary actors like Ashok Kumar, Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand, Raaj Kumar and Dilip Kumar. She had clinched the prestigious Palme d'Or (Golden Balm) at the Cannes Film Festival for her impressive performance in Neecha Nagar (1946). The late actress had also won the Filmfare Award in the 'Best Actress' category for Biraj Bahu back in 1956.
Kamini Kaushal was married to Braham S. Sood, a chief engineer in Bombay Port Trust. After a long hiatus, Kamini Kaushal had made her acting comeback in Shah Rukh Khan's Chennai Express as his grandmother. She was last in Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chahda (cameo) and had played Shahid Kapoor's grandmother in Kabir Singh.
