On February 10, Ranveer Allahbadia shared an apology video on his X handle, acknowledging his lapse in judgment. He admitted that his remarks were neither humorous nor appropriate. "Comedy isn't my strength. I'm here to sincerely apologize," he stated, addressing concerns about how he used his platform.
Without offering any justification, he took full responsibility for his words. "I won't provide context or explanations. It was wrong, and I shouldn't have said it," he added. Acknowledging his audience spans various age groups, he emphasized his commitment to being more mindful in the future.
He further clarified that family is something he holds in high regard and that he deeply regrets any offense caused. "That's been my learning from this whole experience. I promise to just get better," he assured. Additionally, he confirmed that he had requested the removal of the offensive content from the video.
Concluding his apology, Allahbadia said, "All I can say in the end is, I'm sorry and hope you can forgive me as a human being."
HERE'S HOW THE CONTROVERSY STARTED: CHECK WHAT ALLAHBADIA HAD SAID
The controversy began after a viral clip from India's Got Latent featured Allahbadia asking a contestant an offensive and highly inappropriate question: "Would you rather watch your parents have s*x every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?"
As the backlash escalated, a legal complaint was filed against Allahbadia, influencer Apoorva Makhija, comedian Samay Raina, and the show's organizers. The controversy even caught the attention of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who responded to public concerns.
So far, Samay Raina hasn't yet reacted to the ongoing uproar on social media.
