Biography

Steve Howey is an American film and television actor best known for his role as Van Montgomery in the television series Reba. He has guest-starred on ER, The Drew Carey Show, Any Day Now and Twins. His films include Supercross, DOA: Dead or Alive, and Bride Wars. Born Steve Michael Robert Howey in San Antonio, Texas, Howey spent several years of his early childhood living on boats with his parents. His father is acting coach Bill Howey. They eventually settled in a Los Angeles suburb where he attended junior high and most of high school. After moving to Denver to complete his senior year, he earned a basketball scholarship to a junior college in Colorado. He began to lose interest in basketball in his second year and turned, instead, to drama, joining his father\'s acting class. Career Howey has guest-starred on shows including ER (1994) and The Drew Carey Show (1995). He also starred in and produced the independent film Class (1998), which was written and directed by his father and was accepted into the Denver International Film Festival. In 2001, Howey got his first series starring role when he was cast as Van Montgomery in the WB-turned- CW sitcom Reba; he played Van through 2007. He is also in Reba McEntire\'s music video "Every Other Weekend" with Reba costar Joanna Garcia. In 2005 he starred in the action film Supercross as K.C. Carlyle, a striving MX racer that faces struggles with his brother, friends and family. He appeared in Bride Wars, starring Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson. Howey is also set to star as the titular character in the upcoming film, Stan Helsing. Personal life Howey married actress Sarah Shahi on February 7, 2009 in Las Vegas. The couple is expecting their first child in 2009. Shahi has worked with Steve\'s father, acting coach Bill Howey. She mentioned that Steve is of Scottish descent on an episode of the Late Late Show. Howey currently lives in Los Angeles, California.
