Suitably grim and bloody yet disappointingly safe and shallow, Spike Lee's Oldboy remake neither surpasses the original nor adds anything new to its impressive legacy.
Verdict Overall, Oldboy with a distinct unconventionality and bizarre nature, is a well attired but cold and emotionally reserved film. Worth a watch if you have not seen the original.
