Rob wishes to become a professional musician but for Harry, it is below their status. In frustration, Rob starts taking drugs and falls into the trap of a drug dealer Bill, a so-called musician and a fired employee of Harry's company who wants to take revenge from him. Harry hires a Caucasian student tutor Karen who appears to be very strict in the beginning, but later understands Rob's goals and helps him achieve them. She acts as Rob's mentor and becomes his love interest, helping him to adopt the Canadian way of life which advocates personal liberty and stands up for his identity and pursue his passion. When Harry finds about the intimate relationship between Karen and Rob, he fires her.
In desperation, Rob leaves home and starts working in a pizza shop. Bill pretends to help Rob in his difficult times. He cunningly makes Rob have drugs from him posing to be his friend, and one day demands a big amount of money. Rob gets upset and even tries to commit suicide. Baba, Sukhi, Karen, and Garry help Rob to get out of the situation.
Finally, Rob overcomes his weakness for drugs and is determined to be successful in life. Harry also understands that the personal and cultural change was natural and imminent.
