The Last Duel is an epic historical drama directed by Ridley Scott. It is based on the 2004 book 'The Last Duel: A True Story of Trial by Combat in Medieval France' by Eric Jager. The lead cast of the film Ben Affleck and Matt Damon wrote the screenplay along with Nicole Holofcener.
Plot: The Film story takes place in 1386 in France. Marguerite de Carrouges claims that she had been raped by her husband's friend Jacques Le Gris. Her husband, Jean de Carrouges, challenges him to trial by combat, an ancient method to settle accusations. This was the last legally sanctioned duel in France history. The story unfolds in three chapters which portray three perspectives of Carroughes, Le Gris, and Marguerite.
