Oscars 2015 Predictions: Best Picture Nominations
The award season is here and after the 72nd Golden Globes which was held on Sunday evening, it is time to prepare for the Oscars.
Before the nominations for the film industry's biggest awards, Oscars is announced on January 15, we can clearly create a list of nominees based on the winners and losers at the Golden Globes 2015.
Academy Awards 2015 nominations will be announced on Thursday and the prestigious statuettes will be handed out on Feb. 22 to the deserving winners.
GOLDEN GLOBES 2015 COMPLETE WINNERS LIST
Golden Globes 2015 was a big shock as some of the best winning movies did not get even a single win at the ceremony which was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills in California. For example, The Imitation Game was nominated Best Motion Picture - Drama, Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama (Benedict Cumberbatch), Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture (Keira Knightley) and Best Original Score. Unfortunately, the movie did not win even a single award.
Same goes for Foxcatcher starring Channing Tatum, Steve Carell and Mark Ruffalo.
However, Golden Globes win is a ladder for the Oscar nominations and win as well. Sp, before heading to the roads of Oscar glory, here is the Best Picture nomination predictions for Oscars 2015.
Boyhood
After winning big including Best Picture at the Golden Globes on Sunday, Boyhood has strengthened its place for Oscar nomination for Best Picture.
The Theory of Everything
The biopic on Stephen Hawking has been garnering a lot of Oscar buzz. Eddie Redmayne who played Stephen Hawking has also won Best Actor at Golden Globes. The movie was also nominated for Best Picture but lost from 'Boyhood'.
Unbroken
Angelina Jolie's directed biopic on Olympic athlete and WWII survivor Louis Zamperini is also getting rave reviews for the performances.
The Imitation Game
Although the movie did not win at Golden Globes, it will surely get nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars 2015. Moreover, Benedict Cumberbatch is also garnering a lot of Oscar buzz for Best Actor after he won hearts playing Alan Turing in this World War II drama.
Foxcatcher
Another biopic had Golden Globe nominations but did not win at all. However, the movie has got good reviews and is surely getting nominated for several categories including Best Picture.
Birdman
Birdman was one of the biggest winners at Golden Globes with Best Screenplay and Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy wins. The Michael Keaton, Emma Stone and Naomi Watts starrer film is creating Oscar buzz as well.
Wild
Reese Witherspoon has been getting lots of accolades and creating Oscar buzz as well for her performance as Cheryl Strayed in the biopic.
Cake
Jennifer Aniston is playing a patient suffering from chronic pain in this movie which is getting good response.
Still Alice
Julianne Moore won the Best Actress award at Golden Globes for her performance in Still Alice. The movie is creating a lot of Oscar buzz for many categories.
Big Eyes
Amy Adams won Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy for her portrayal of artist Margaret Keane in Tim Burton's "Big Eyes."
Selma
David Oyelowo is creating Oscar buzz for playing the civil-rights icon Martin Luther King Jr. Although the movie did not win big at Golden Globes, the Oscars run is competitive.
