Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is a big-budget, pan-Indian gangster-drama film written and directed by Geetu Mohandas. The movie casts Yash, Nayanthara, Kiara Malhotra, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi, and Rukmini Vasanth in the main lead roles, along with Tovino Thomas, Akshay Oberoi, Sudev Nair, Amit Tiwari, Darell D'Silva, Natalie Burn, Kyle Paul, and many others in supporting roles. The music was composed by Ravi Basrur and Vishal Mishra, while the cinematography was done by Rajeev Ravi, and it is edited by Ujwal Kulkarni. The film is jointly produced by Venkat K. The shooting for Toxic commenced in mid-2024, primarily in and around Bengaluru, with a large-scale set designed to recreate the period ambience. The production reportedly involved over 1,000 crew members and around 450 actors, including foreign extras, reflecting the film’s enormous scale and ambition. The film is being simultaneously shot in Kannada and English, aiming for a pan-Indian and potentially international reach. Post-production — including VFX — began in April 2025, following completion of principal photography.
Release Date & Languages
Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, starring Yash, has undergone multiple schedule changes for its theatrical release. The film was initially slated to hit cinemas on March 19, 2026, but was later postponed to June 4, 2026. However, with the latest update, the makers have decided to delay the release once again, and the new official date is yet to be announced. The postponement is reportedly to allow more time for post-production work and to plan a wider promotional campaign. As per current industry buzz, the film is now expected to target a mid-August 2026 release window, although an official confirmation is awaited.
The film is planned as a grand pan-India release and will be released in its original Kannada and English versions, along with dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam. With its wide multilingual rollout and high expectations surrounding it, Toxic aims to reach a broad audience across the country upon its theatrical release.
