Higuita Story

Higuita is a Malayalam political drama directed by Hemanth G Nair . The film features Suraj Venjaramoodu,  Dhyan Sreenivasan, Manoj K. Jayan and Indrans in lead roles.

Actor Suraj Venjaramoodu who plays a left politician role in the movie. It marks, for the first time the actor appears in a politician role. On other hand, the film gives less importance to women characters and no women characters in lead role.

Scripted by the director himself, the film 'Higuita ' is one of the anticipated political thriller movies of 2023. The film is jointly produced by by Bobby Tharian and Sajith Amma under the banner of 2ND Half Productions in Association. Cinematography of the film handled by handled by Fazil Nazer. Rahul Raj composed music while editing is done by Praseedh Narayanan.

Plotline:
Like a  political thriller drama, which tells the story  of a fictional character 'Payyannur Mukundan', a strong leader of a Leftist party in Kannur. On other hand, the film focuses on a policeman Ayyappadas, who hail from Alappuza and reaches Kannur. 'Higuita' set in the backdrops of political violence in Kannur, North Malabar. It also highlights the Kerala's left mannerism in Indian politics.

Contraversy:
Title of the film, which sparks contraversy on social media. Writer and political commentator N.S.Madhavan who protested against the title of the movie 'Higuita', as it is also the name of his short story about the  former Colombian goalkeeper René Higuita. After the release of its first-look poster, it became a hot-topic on social media. Many prominent writers who came forward and expresses their opinion about the contraversy.

After the release of its teaser, the film received  cenesor board certificate on the same day.
