Iru tells the story of a teenage dalit boy who falls in love with an upper-caste girl. The plot of the film also deals with topics such as campus politics, love, and caste oppression.

The film is produced by Girish Ram Kumar jointly with George Varghese, Mary Joy under the banner of Shakespeare Arts Society of India.Touted to be a romantic-film,Sooraj S Kurup composed the music while Sidhartha Siva is handled cinematography.
