Dulquer Salmaan Drops Truth Bombs On OTT Deals; Reveals Lokah Faced Troubles

Dulquer Salmaan is one of the most versatile stars in the Malayalam cinema, and has always been willing to take risks in his career. As a producer, DQ took the biggest challenge of his career with the recently released superhero film, Lokah: Chapter 1 - Chandra. And much to the delight of the team members, film industry members, and the audiences, the movie performed extremely well at the box office, and emerged as the industry hit.

Dulquer Salmaan Drops Truth Bombs On OTT Deals

As you may know, Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen's blockbuster film had to wait for a while before hitting the OTT screens. It was mainly because Dulquer Salmaan and his team waited of the right OTT deal, that would allow the film to run in the theatres for a longer time period, and offered a fair price. In his recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, the actor-producer dropped some truth bombs on how OTT deals are happening in the Malayalam film industry.

According to the Kaantha actor, nobody wanted to buy Lokah: Chapter 1 - Chandra initially. Dulquer Salmaan revealed that both him and Tovino Thomas initially decided to came on board for the film just to 'cushion' it, as the OTT platforms were reluctant to invest on a female-led superhero film.

Even after Dulquer and Tovino played prominent characters in the film, they refused to pay a decent amount suggesting that both the actors have very less screentime in Lokah. The producer revealed that some platforms even asked him to come on screens for more than 30 minutes, in order to sign the deal.

However, things changed overnight for Lokah after its release, as the film succeeded in impressing both the audiences and the critics alike. Now, director Dominic Arun and his team are currently busy writing the second installment in the franchise, which has been titled Lokah Chapter 2. As reported earlier, Tovino Thomas will headline Lokah 2, while all other prominent stars will return to play their respective roles.
