Kalamkaval Release Update: Here’s Why Mammootty, Vinayakan Starrer Is Delayed Indefinitely

Kalamkaval Release Delayed: Mammootty, the megastar of Malayalam cinema has been having a dream run in the silver screen with back-to-back unique roles and some fantastic films. However, 2025 has not been that great for the veteran actor with the underwhelming performances of his two outings, Dominic And The Ladies Purse and Bazooka. Also, the reports on Mammootty's health problems made headlines. However, the audiences were still eagerly looking forward to his next outing, Kalamkaval.

The highly anticipated crime drama film, which marks the directorial debut of writer Jithin K. Jose, has hit multiple roadblocks during its making. Kalamkaval, which features Mammootty in a negative role and Vinayakan as the protagonist, was originally expected to be released in August 2025. But the movie was later pushed to November 27, 2025, citing delays in post-production work. However, Kalamkaval is now delayed again due to multiple reasons.

Kalamkaval Delayed Indefinitely Due To THESE Reasons?

If the reports are to be believed, the makers decided to push the release of the Mammootty starrer mainly due to two reasons. The team made this decision mainly because the OTT rights of Kalamkaval have not been sold, yet. As per the reports, producer-leading man Mammootty and his team are keen to finalise the OTT and satelite partners before the release.

The makers reportedly made this decision especially because the megastar's last two releases - Dominic And The Ladies Purse and Bazooka, are yet to get their OTT releases. Also, the team is eyeing a solo release slot for the highly anticipated film, which, in a way marks Mammootty's grand comeback after he recovered from the undisclosed illness.

If things go as planned, Kalamkaval might release somewhere in mid-December 2025, or might get pushed to January 2026. The reports suggest that the makers, especially the megastar is in no hurry to release the film, before all these concerns are sorted.
