Kalamkaval Vs Thudarum Worldwide Box Office Collection Day 1: Mammootty made a grand comeback to the big screens after a short break, with the Jithin K Jose directorial, which hit the theatres on December 5, 2025. Kalamkaval features the megastar in a negative role, while popular actor Vinayakan plays the antagonist.

As per the latest updates from the trade experts, the neo-noir crime thriller has made a double digit opening at the worldwide box office. However, Kalamkaval still failed to surpass the Day 1 collections of Mohanlal's Thudarum.

As per the latest updates by the industry tracker AB George, Kalamkaval has made a fantastic opening at the worldwide box office, with a gross collection of approximately ₹15.7 crore on its Day 1 at the theatres. It is indeed a big achievement for the Jithin K Jose directorial, which features its leading man Mammootty in the role of a despicable serial killer. Thus, the movie emerged as the third biggest box office opener of 2025, behind Mohanlal's Empuraan and Thudarum.

The Tharun Moorthy directorial, which features Mohanlal in the role of Benz Shanmugham, made a worldwide box office opening of over ₹16 crore. Even though Kalamkaval was initially expected to surpass Thudarum with its Day 1 collections, the Mammootty starrer missed it by a small margin. The same applies even at the Kerala box office, where the Jithin K Jose directorial made an opening collection of ₹4.92, while Mohanlal starrer stands at ₹5.10 crore.

However, it is now safe to assume that Kalamkaval is on its way to emerge as one of the highest grossing Malayalam films of 2025. The excellent reviews, increasing word-of-mouth publicity, and rising advance booking rates suggest that Mammootty and Vinayakan's film is set to have an excellent first weekend, and quite a long run at the theatres, before it hits the OTT screens.
