Lokah Chapter 2 Update: Scripting Of The Tovino Thomas Starrer Begins, To Start Rolling Soon
Lokah Chapter 2 Update: Malayalam film industry had its all-time highest grossing film in August 2025, with the release of Lokah Chapter 1 - Chandra. The Dominic Arun directorial produced by Dulquer Salmaan is being made as a franchise. Tovino Thomas, who played Michael aka a Chaathan (goblin) in the first chapter, is set to headline the upcoming Lokah Chapter 2. The sources close to the team recently dropped a major update on the upcoming project.
Lokah Chapter 2 Scripting Begins
As per the latest updates, writer-director Dominic Arun, and his co-writer Santhy Balachandran have officially kickstarted the scripting of the upcoming Lokah sequel, already. As you may know, the story of Lokah Chapter 1 - Chandra was developed by director Dominic himself, and co-written by Santhy Balachandran, the actress who has previously worked with him in Tharangam. Santhy was also credited for the dramaturgy of the Kalyani Priyadarshan starrer. Now, the duo is reuniting for Lokah Chapter 2.
If things go as planned, the filming of Malayalam cinema's most anticipated sequel might go on floors by at least the second half of 2026. Tovino Thomas' character Michael aka Chaathan is confirmed to be the protagonist of Lokah 2. Interestingly, the actor himself might play the role of the antagonist, who is another Chaathan and the older brother of Michael. Dulquer Salmaan, who made a cameo appearance in Lokah as Charlie aka Odiyan (shape shifter), will return to play the role in Part 2 as well.
Kalyani Priyadarshan (Neeli aka Chandra) and Naslen (Sunny) are also expected to return to the Chapter 2, reprising their respective roles. However, the audiences are most excited for the onscreen appearance of legendary actor Mammootty, in Lokah Chapter 2. For the uninitiated, the megastar made a voice appearance as Moothon in Lokah Chapter 1 in just one scene, and set the theatres on fire with his magnificent presence. In that case, one of the upcoming films in the franchise might also mark Mammootty's first ever onscreen collaboration with his son, Dulquer Salmaan.
