The friendship and brotherhood of the superstars, Mammootty and Mohanlal is one such bond that garnered the attention of cinephiles over decades.

Recently, the Kalamkaval actor and his team threw a lowkey bash for the Empuraan star, to celebrate the latter's Dada Saheb Phalke Award win. The special event happened at the location of Patriot, the upcoming Mahesh Narayanan directorial which marks the onscreen reunion of the legends.

Recently, Mammootty and Mohanlal recently resumed the shooting of Patriot, the upcoming political thriller. Interestingly, the megastar and the cast and crew members of the film congratulated the Thudarum actor, who won the Dada Saheb Phalke Award for his contributions to Malayalam cinema, this year. Mammootty is seen honouring Mohanlal by gifting him a 'Ponnada' (Shawl) and the duo shared a heartfelt moment.

"To our dear Lalu, who won the Falke Award, With love..," wrote the megastar, who shared a special video of the celebration on his official social media handles. The rest of the cast and crew members, including director Mahesh Narayanan, co-star Kunchacko Boban, the duo's other close associates including Antony Perumbavoor, George, and others were seen at the celebrations.

"Beauty of Malayalam cinema," wrote an overwhelmed fan on X (formerly Twitter). "This collaboration was not on my bingo card..," another fan posted. "Whatever controversy happen or fan fights... Coming to Patriot, Mammootty plays the protagonist in the film, which stars Mohanlal in an extended cameo appearance. Along with the duo, the Mahesh Narayanan film features a massive star cast including Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, Revathy, Darshana Rajendran, and others in the supporting roles.
