Even though the Malayalam cinema enthusiasts are unhappy with the delay in the film's release, they are happy about the new choice of date. Interestingly, the highly anticipated Drishyam threequel has been slated to hit the theatres on leading man Mohanlal's 66th birthday.

Yes, you read it right. Drishyam 3 will now hit the theatres across the globe on Thursday, May 21, 2026, on the special occasion of Lalettan's birthday. "The past never stays silent...it only waits. Georgekutty arrives, May 21st 2026. #Drishyam3 | Worldwide Release," wrote Mohanlal, who announced the new release date and dropped a brand new poster of the Jeethu Joseph directorial, on his official social media handles.

As reported earlier, the Drishyam 3 makers decided to push the release of the crime drama film from April 2026, due to the ongoing Middle East war situation. According to th grapevine, the producers and distributors of the Mohanlal starrer are worried that the Drishyam threequel might not be able to generate the expected rush overseas, especially at the UAE and GCC box office, due to the same reason.

Mohanlal is returning as the celebrated character George Kutty, a small-time businessman from a Kerala village in Drishyam 3. The Jeethu Joseph directorial will feature Meena once again in the role of George Kutty's wife Rani, while Esther Anil and Ansiba Hassan return to the play the roles of their daughters. The much-awaited Drishyam threequel is produced by Antony Perumbavoor, under the banner Aashirvad Cinemas.
