Cast & Crew
Prithviraj As Ranjan Mathew
Prithviraj, who essays Ranjan Mathew has delivered an outstanding performance in the movie. The actor perfectly portrayed the various emotional stages of his character with complete ease. It is one his best performances in the recent past.
Sudev Nair as Abraham Ezra
Sudev Nair, who essays the titular character Abraham Ezra, has played his part brilliantly. We hope to see the talented actor in more movies soon.
Script & Direction: Jay K
Jay K makes a fantastic debut with the most honest horror film Mollywood has ever seen. The writer-director has succeeded in presenting an out-and-out horror thriller, which totally does justice to its genre.
The movie stays aways from the unnecessary cliches, which is truly commendable. The director has adapted a very different making style, which is totally new to the Malayalam cinema.
Priya Anand As Priya Raguram
Priya Anand makes a decent debut with the movie. She has played the role of Ranjan's pregnant wife Priya to near perfection, and has excelled in the emotional sequences.
Tovino Thomas as ACP Shafeer Ahammed IPS
Tovino Thomas, has brilliantly portrayed the role of ACP Shafeer Ahammed IPS. Even though it is a character with less screen space, Tovino has made a mark with his balanced acting skills.
The Supporting Cast
Sujith Shankar, who plays Rabbi Markes perfectly fits into his role. Prathap Pothen is wasted on his minimal role. The rest of the star cast, including Vijayaraghavan, Babu Antony, Alencier Ley, Tara Kalyan, etc., are good in their respective roles.
Cinematography: Sujith Vasudev
Sujith Vasudev's exceptionally brilliant visualisation is the backbone of the movie. The cinematographer has created a magical backdrop for the spine-chilling thriller. Especially, the visuals of the Lalilakame song and pre-independence era are a treat to watch.
Music: Rahul Raj & Sushin Shyam
Rahul Raj's, who has composed the songs for the movie, scores with the romantic number Lailakame. The other songs are easily forgettable.
Sushin Shyam, who has composed the background score deserves a huge round of applause. The haunting background score perfectly sinks in with the movie and makes it a totally effective watch.
Other Technical Aspects
Ezra is undoubtedly one of the most technically brilliant movies Mollywood has ever seen. A special kudos to the Four Frames studio team, who have made the movie a fabulous theatre experience.
Editing by Vivek Harshan is up to the mark. Art direction by Gokul Das and costumes designed by Stephy Xavier are just outstanding.
Ezra might not appeal to the audiences, who are quite familiar with the international horror films. But for the common Malayali audiences who are yet to experience the real horror thriller genre, it is a totally delightful watch.
Undoubtedly the BEST horror thriller ever made in Malayalam so far. Don't miss this one....
