Directed by Joydeep Mukherjee, Puro Puri Eken features Anirban Chakrabarti as the much-loved Bengali detective 'Ekendra Sen' aka 'Eken Babu'. The first season of the popular detective-comedy series was premiered back in March 2018 and became a huge hit. Over the years, through 7 seasons, the show has become one of the most popular detective shows on Hoichoi.
Anirban Chakrabarti will be rerising his role as Eken Babu in 'Puro Puri Eken', while the Hoichoi original series also stars Suhotra Mukhopadhyay and Shomak Ghosh as Eken Babu's cohorts alongside Rajnandini Paul, Roja Paromita Dey, Rahul Arunoday Banerjee and Biswajit Chakraborty among others in pivotal roles.
In Puro Puri Eken, Eken Babu along with Bapi and Pramatha will unravel the mystery of a string of murders in Puri after eerie phone calls made to Kathakali dancer Paramita. The official Hoichoi synopsis of the show reads, "Detective Eken with partners Bapi and Pramatha, heads to Puri to solve a sinister case involving menacing calls to a Kathakali dancer. Anirban Chakrabarti returns as Eken Babu in this thrilling, food-filled adventure set against Puri's vibrant backdrop, Eken Babu: Season 8 (sic)."
