Shontaan (Bengali) OTT Release Platform Updates: Almost 5 years after the blockbuster success of 'Parineeta' (2019), Raj Chakrabarty reunited with Subhashree Ganguly and Ritwick Chakraborty onscreen for 'Shontaan'. Directed by Raj, Shontaan is a Bengali-language emotional-drama with a strong social message that hit cinemas on 20th December 2024, clashing with Dev-starrer 'Khadaan' and Tota Roy Choudhury's 'Chaalchitro: The Frama Fatale'. Amid positive buzz, Subhashree's 'Shontaan' opened to heartwarming response from the audience and critics alike in Bengal. After the regional success, the movie released nationwide on 3rd January 2024.

Shontaan Cast, Plot Deets & More

Directed by Raj Chakrabarty, Shontaan revolves around the story of an elderly couple, played by veteran Bengali actors Mithun Chakraborty and Anashua Majumdar, who gets abandoned by their own child, Ritwick Chakraborty's character. Things take a dramatic turn when the devoted father moves to the court to seek justice.

Raj's wife and talented actress Subhashree plays the role of an honest lawyer, Indrani Sen, who fights for the old-age couple. The film also features versatile actors Kharaj Mukherjee and Sohini Sengupta in important roles.

The official synopsis of the film reads, "What happens when a devoted father is rejected by the son he raised? As he seeks justice in court, will the family heal, or will the divide grow deeper? (sic)"

Shontaan OTT Release Platform: Mithun-Subhashree's Film To Stream On THIS OTT Platform After Theatrical Release?

Shontaan is currently running successfully in cinemas. Meanwhile, fans have been eagerly awaiting its digital premiere. Produced by Shree Venkatesh Films (SVF), the OTT release date and platform of Shontaan have not been officially announced yet. However, being a SVF production venture, Mithun Chakraborty-Subhashree's 'Shontaan' is likely to have its digital premiere on their Bengali OTT streaming platform - Hoichoi. An official announcement is awaited.
