800 Story
800 is a gripping biopic drama about the struggling career of legendary cricketer Muthiah Muralidaran. Directed by MS Sripathy with story and dialogue assistance from acclaimed Sri Lankan writer Shehan Karunatilaka, the film stars Madhur Mittal as Muralidaran, alongside an ensemble cast of Nassar, Narain, Vela Ramamoorthy, Mahima Nambiar, and more.
RD Rajasekar's cinematography captures the film's stunning visuals, while Praveen K. L.'s editing keeps the pace brisk. Ghibran's heart-melting score is the film's best asset, perfectly complementing the action sequences choreographed by Don Ashok. Jithendra Vijaykumar's VFX supervision adds a touch of realism to the film. Vivek Rangachari produces the film under the banner of Movie Train Motion Pictures. Sivalenka Krishna Prasad distributes the film in Sri Lanka and India under their banner, Sridevi Movies.
Story
800 is the saga of a refugee who rose to become a cricketing legend. Muthiah Muralidaran was born in Tamil Nadu, India, but his family was forced to flee to Sri Lanka during the civil war. In their new home, they faced many challenges, but Muralidaran found solace in cricket. He practiced for hours every day, honing his unique bowling style. Despite facing discrimination and criticism, he went on to become the highest wicket-taker in Test cricket history.
He dominated his seniors with his bowling skills from the start, and they helped him achieve greatness. He even made it to the national team but was banned by the Australian cricket team for bowling with a false action. But he didn't give up. He changed his action and came back stronger than ever, taking 800 wickets in international cricket. His story is an inspiration to us all.
Release Date
800, the highly anticipated Tamil movie, was released in theatres on October 6, 2023. The film will be released in multiple languages, including Tamil, English, Sinhala, and all other regional languages in India.
