Maharaja is a 2024 Tamil action thriller movie written and directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, in which Vijay Sethupathi, Anurag Kashyap, and Mamta Mohandas starred in the lead roles, along with Natarajan Subramaniam, Abhirami, Munishkanth, Singam Puli, and many others in supporting roles. Story In Detail

Maharaja (Vijay Sethupathi) is a barber who runs a small salon. After his wife dies in an accident, his daughter becomes his whole world. One day, thieves break into his house and steal an iron trash bin. When Maharaja goes to the police station to file a report, the police mock him and treat him with suspicion. Maharaja offers a bribe of 7 lakhs to anyone who can return the stolen trash bin.

Production

Maharaja is Vijay Sethupathi's 50th film. It was initially referred to as VJS 50, but when the title was announced as Maharaja, his fans were excited, knowing that something special was in store. On September 10, the first-look poster was released. It showed Vijay Sethupathi sitting in a barber's chair with a sharp knife, while police officers with scared expressions waited for him in the background. This gave us a clue that the film would be an action-packed bloodbath.
