Mark Antony Story

Mark Antony is a 2023 Tamil Sci-fi thriller movie written and directed by Adhik Ravichandran who is already registered his name through TIN and AAA. Vishal Krishna and S.J. Surya starred in the lead roles, along with Ritu Varma, Sunil, Abhinaya Anand, and many others in supporting roles.

Abinandhan Ramanujam 's visuals take centre stage in this film, with Vijay Velukutty's editing ensuring that the action sequences are as smooth as silk. G V Prakash Kumar delivers a stunning soundtrack, with lyrics by Mathura Kavi, Asal Kolaar, and Adhik Ravichandran. Vinod Kumar produced this film under the banner of Mini Studio.

Story

Mark Antony is a time-travelling gangster flick that tells the story of two Vishals: one from the future and one from the past. The future Vishal learns of a magical phone that can be used to communicate with the past, and he uses it to warn the gangsters of his father's era about his dangerous potential. The father Vishal is a ruthless gangster who wasn't feared by all, but the future Vishal knows that he is capable of even more harm. He must use the phone to stop his father from causing any more damage, even if it means risking his own life.

Vishal, a futuristic traveller, came to the past to learn more about the gangster Mark. When the old, ruthless gangsters found out about him, they were amazed and asked him how he had travelled back in time. Vishal explained that he had developed a time machine, and the gangsters were intrigued. They told him about Mark and his partner, Antony, two of the most feared gangsters in town. They had terrorised the people, the officials, and even other gangsters.

Once he spilled the beans, they hopscotched through time, rewriting history to build their criminal empire. But the time traveller's real mission was to kill his father. Did he succeed? And how much do Vishal and S.J. Suriyah have in this movie? These are just some of the burning questions that will be answered in the rest of the film.

Film Processing

Vishal and Adhik Ravichandran were rumoured to be collaborating on a film in September 2021, which would be produced by S. Vinod Kumar under Mini Studio. Vishal 33 was formally confirmed in December, and S. J. Suryah was chosen as the central antagonist. The title was confirmed on New Year's Day to be Mark Antony, after Raghuvaran's role in Baashha (1995). The soundtrack and background soundtracks were composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, who was added to the crew in March. Ritu Varma was cast as the female lead in May 2022, and Sunil and Nizhalgal Ravi were cast in key parts. Vishnu Priya Gandhi, a social media personality, was chosen to play Silk Smitha due to her likeness, with make-up and visual effects applied to enhance her performance.

Shooting Details

Filming commenced on May 5th, 2022, with a muhurat puja in Chennai. The first leg took place in the same city, with Ritu joining the cast in July. Shooting was placed on hold after Vishal sustained an injury in August but resumed in October with the second leg. The final leg began in January 2023 and was nearing completion. Suryah wrapped his scenes in April, and Vishal and Sunil followed suit in May with a cake-cutting ceremony.

Release Date

The eagerly awaited "Mark Antony" has made its grand entrance, gracing the silver screen on September 15, 2023, for the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.
