Puriyaatha Puthir Story

Mellisai is titled as Puriyaadha Pudhir which is VijaySethupathi's 1st release in 2017. The movie directed by Ranjith, an associate of director Ramand and produced under Rebel Studio Productions. Vijay Sethupathi and Gayathrie feature in the leading roles.

The actor chose to postpone some of his other projects in order to complete Mellisai, describing it as a thriller film. Gayathrie was signed on to play a violin teacher in the film, marking her third film with Vijay Sethupathi Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom (2012) and Rummy (2014), and to practice for her character she began to learn the instrument part-time.

The film features music by Sam C. S. and cinematography by Dinesh Krishnan.

Release

The movie was scheduled to release on the 13th of January, for the Pongal festival is now unfortunately postponed.

J.Sathish Kumar, the producer Puriyaadha Pudhir movie, in his recent official statement, stated that "Dear All, Due to inevitable reasons the release of "#PuriyathaPuthir" has been postponed. Hence we request your good self to kindly hold back the interviews of the cast and crew until further notice."
