Parasakthi Story

Parasakthi (aka) Parashakthi is a Tamil period political drama written and directed by Sudha Kongara. The star cast includes Sivakarthikeyan, Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa Murali, and Sree Leela in lead roles, while Dev Ramnath and others play supporting roles. Cinematography is handled by Ravi K. Chandran, bringing a visually compelling narrative to life. The music is composed by GV Prakash Kumar, whose score will undoubtedly add depth to the story. The film is produced by Aakash Baskaran.

Parasakthi Plot

Set against the backdrop of civil unrest in the former Madras State, the story unfolds as a sharp and relentless officer is assigned to hunt down rebellious forces. Brothers Chezhian and Chinnadurai stand on opposite paths one a sincere fireman devoted to duty, the other a passionate rebel driven by resistance. As tensions rise, their lives collide in a dangerous game of pursuit and survival. Forced out of his quiet, principled life, Chezhian must rise against powerful adversaries to safeguard his people, leading to a gripping confrontation where courage, sacrifice, and justice take center stage.

Parasakthi Story

The film Parasakthi opens with Puranaanooru, a revolutionary student group in Tamil Nadu, launching a train-burning protest against Hindi imposition. Right from the start, the film sets a gripping tone with intense confrontation scenes between police officer Thirunadan (Ravi Mohan) and the protagonist Sezhiyan (Sivakarthikeyan) aboard a moving train.

When a student loses his life during the protest, Sezhiyan decides that enough is enough and withdraws from violent resistance, taking up a humble job shoveling coal in trains. To prevent the issue from escalating into a language controversy, Nehru orders the incident to be officially recorded as an accident, assuring that the language issue will be contained.

However, during Indira Gandhi’s rule, the problem of Hindi imposition resurfaces in Tamil Nadu. With Bhaktavatsalam, the last Congress Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, supporting the move, student protests erupt once again. Driven by revenge against Sezhiyan who had earlier broken his trigger finger Thirunadan unleashes brutal violence on the people of Pollachi, killing innocents and hatching conspiracies to crush the students’ signature campaign.

The rest of the story revolves around whether Sezhiyan manages to defeat Thirunadan’s conspiracies, whether justice is restored for the oppressed people, and whether Indira Gandhi ultimately fulfills her father’s promise to Tamil Nadu. These questions form the emotional and political core of Parasakthi.

Title Announcement

Parasakthi is inspired by Tamil Nadu's anti-Hindi agitation. The 1.47-minute teaser showcases the lead roles and some exciting moments. Initially called Puranaanooru with Suriya in the lead, it has now become Parasakthi with Sivakarthikeyan taking over. The film will explore an important chapter in Tamil Nadu's political history with strong storytelling and performances.
