Vettuvam Story

Vettuvam is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Pa. Ranjith, featuring Arya, Ashok Selvan and Dinesh Ravi in lead roles. Jointly produced by Pa. Ranjith, Piiyush Singh, Abhayanand Singh, Saurabh Gupta, Ashwini Chaudhary, and Aditi Anand, the film is backed by Neelam Productions and Golden Ratio Films. Set against a rural backdrop, Vettuvam explores themes of power, crime, and justice through a socially rooted narrative. The music composer for the film is yet to be officially announced.

Plot

The story follows a rural gangster who rises to fame as a modern-day Robin Hood, helping the oppressed in his community. To escape escalating threats from rivals, he voluntarily surrenders to the police only to encounter new challenges within the prison system. The film is also said to draw inspiration from the life and struggles of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda, adding a deeper layer of historical and social relevance.

Vettuvam First Look

The first look of Vettuvam was officially unveiled at the prestigious 2022 Cannes Film Festival. It marked an international launch for Pa. Ranjith’s ambitious rural drama.

Vettuvam On-Set Tragedy

The production of Vettuvam faced a heartbreaking incident during its shoot in Keezhayur, Nagapattinam. Senior stunt artist Mohan Raj (52) tragically passed away on set. Initially reported as a heart attack, later clarifications suggested the fatal incident occurred during a stunt sequence around 10:40 a.m. He was immediately rushed to Nagapattinam Government Medical College Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival. A post-mortem has been conducted, and authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

Release Date 

Vettuvam is expected to hit theatres sometime in 2026, with an official release date yet to be announced.
