Ajith Kumar and Tamil superstar Rajinikanth, who share warm relationship off-screen, will be soon fighting out hard to win the Box Office race. Come January, their movies Veeram and Kochadaiiyaan (Kochadaiyaan) will be clashing at the Box Office and this news has generated a curiosity among the cine-goers.
Very rarely we see Rajinikanth's movie clashing with a flick featuring an A-list actor. This time, by now it is confirmed that Kochadaiiyaan will be heading for a big clash with Ajith Kumar's Veeram. In an interesting development, the co-producer of the forthcoming Rajini's movie revealed recently that they are releasing the flick in January 2014. The probable date was January 10.
The news sent shock waves for the industry insiders as they had expected a clash of Ajith Kumar's Veeram and Vijay's Jilla. With Rajinikanth's movie entering the Pongal race, the situation was turning bad to worst, according to traders as three big movies are releasing at the same time will not only affect the trade, but also it would eat each others' business.
Sources had said that theatre owners' first preference would be Kochadaiiyaan given the fact that Rajinikanth is bigger star than Ajith Kumar and Vijay. Continue reading the story on the slideshow...
Kochadaiiyaan To Get Maximum Screens
It means that any movie released against Rajinikanth flick would be a loser as Kochadaiiyaan is expected to take away majority of screens.
Veeram To Go Ahead With Its Earlier Plans
Well, this development reportedly made the makers of Jilla to postpone the release. However, the reluctant Veeram makers, not worried about the development, decided to go ahead with their earlier plans.
Kochadaiiyaan Bigger Than Veeram
Traders say that Kochadaiiyaan is bigger film than Veeram in terms of budget, cast, crew and other technicalities. The makers of the Rajini's movie would leave no stone unturned to make it a wider release, which could also harm the business of Veeram.
Tough Road Ahead For Veeram Makers
As Veeram makers have accepted Kochadaiiyaan challenge, they have to give their best to get as many screens as possible for their film. Else the Ajith's movie could probably have tough time facing the heat of Rajini's movie.
Will Rajinikanth Intervene?
Well, traders feel that Rajinikanth's intervention could probably ease the fight among the two releases. And this could possibly make both movies' producers/distributors/theatre owners to give reasonable screens to Veeram and Kochadaiiyan so that their business interest is not affected.
All Eyes On TNTOA
Meanwhile, industry insiders also say that Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners' Association (TNTOA) is a powerful organisation in film fraternity as they have a history of taking a stand on issues.
TNTOA Should Intervene
Like producers, the TNTOA too doesn't like the clash as it would affect their business too. Hence, they would play a crucial role in avoiding clash so that the both the parties are benefited.
Veeram And Kochadaiiyaan Makers Yet To Begin The Talks
