Kaantha, the period mystery drama which hit the theatres on 14 November 2025, has been performing well at the box office. Dulquer Salmaan played the lead role in the project, which marks the feature film debut of filmmaker Selvamani Selvaraj. However, it is the leading lady, Bhagyashri Borse, who impressed the cinephiles the most. The young actress, who made her Telugu cinema debut with Mr. Bachchan, has proved her mettle as an actress, with her performance in Kaantha.

Bhagyashri, who has already proved that she is not just another pretty face, recently opened up about her working experience with leading man Dulquer Salmaan, director Selvamani Selvaraj, and team, in an interview with journalist Sudhir Srinivasan. In the actress, the young actress opened up about the much-talked-about 'slap' scene from the film, and shared her experiences of shooting for it.

The leading lady shared that she was a little hesitant to 'slap' Dulquer Salmaan in that scene for real. However, the popular actor wanted the perfection of a real slap in that scene. "He asked for it. He was ready to go through that, to get that performance out of him. But I was a little hesitant, because it is the first time I ever did it," Bhagyashri revealed.

Director Selvamani Selvaraj, who was also present at the interview along with the actress, revealed that Dulquer Salmaan's face went really red with all the slapping after they shot the scene. He recalled that the actor's face remained the same for some time after the shoot. However, Dulquer wanted to keep the scene very real, and had no qualms about getting slapped on camera.

Dulquer Salmaan played the role of TK Mahadevan, the first ever superstar of Tamil cinema in Kaantha, which is set in the Madras of 1950s. Bhagyashri Borse played the role of his lady love Kumari, while Rana Daggubati appeared as Phoenix, a police officer. Samuthirakani played the role of Mahadevan and Kumari's mentor, Ayya. The project is jointly produced by Wayfarer Films and Spirit Media.
