Padayappa Re-release Box Office Collection Day 11: Rajinikanth's Film Strikes Big, But Fails To Beat Ghilli

Padayappa Re-release Box Office Collection Day 11: Rajinikanth's 1998-released iconic film, which is helmed by KS Ravikumar, recently made a grand comeback to the big screens. Padayappa 4K version, which hit the theatres on the superstar's 75th birthday, has performed exceptionally well at the box office. However, the Rajinikanth starrer still failed to surpass the lifetime collections of Thalapathy Vijay's Ghilli re-release.

According to the recent updates by the popular industry tracker website Track Tollywood, Padayappa re-release is now nearing its final days at the theatres. Rajinikanth's blockbuster mass entertainer has reportedly crossed the ₹18 crore mark with its worldwide box office collections, within the first 11 days of its release. The reports suggests that this can be considered the final collections of the re-release version.

Now, it is also confirmed that Padayappa re-release was unable to beat the lifetime collections of Thalapathy Vijay's Ghilli re-release, as expected earlier. For the uninitiated, the Ghilli 4K version was screened at the theatres across the globe for over a month due to huge audience demand. The Dharani directorial reportedly made a lifetime box office collections of over ₹32 crore, thus emerging as the highest grossing re-release of South cinema.

Padayappa 4K version has now emerged as the third all-time highest grossing re-released films of South Indian film industry, after Thalapathy Vijay's Ghilli, and the SS Rajamouli directorial Baahubali: The Epic. Even though the new updates came out as a big disappointment for the Rajinikanth fans, they are still happy about the film's excellent box office performance in the first week.

Padayappa Cast And Crew

Rajinikanth appeared as the titular character Aaru Padayappan aka Padayappa in the KS Ravikumar film, which featured legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan in a special appearance. Soundarya played the female lead in the mass actioner, which featured Ramya Krishnan as the lead antagonist, the iconic character Neelambari.

The blockbuster film featured Lakshmi, Nassar, Manivannan, Sithara, Radha Ravi, Vadivukarasi, Prakash Raj, Sathyapriya, Senthil, Abbas, Mansoor Ali Khan, Abbas, Preetha Vijayakumar, and others in the supporting roles. AR Rahman composed the iconic sound track and original score of the Rajinikanth film. S Murthi Prasad is the director of photography. K Thanigachalam handled the editing. Padayappa is produced by the prestigious yesteryear banner Arunachala Cine Creations.
