According to the latest reports by the trade analysts, Jana Nayagan is off to an extraordinary opening at the worldwide box office. The Thalapathy Vijay starrer has been registering an insane growth in its advance booking sales, across the globe. Even though the pre-sales have not started in the home state Tamil Nadu due to the censor issues, the highly anticipated film has already crossed the ₹50 crore mark with its advance booking collections.
The Day 1 Kerala pre-sales collection of Jana Nayagan has reportedly crossed the ₹2.50 crore mark, while the Karnataka collection has reportedly touched the ₹5.5 crore, with 273 shows. The advance bookings for the Thalapathy Vijay starrer from Kerala, Karnataka, and the overseas centers suggest that the film is all set to have a double or triple digit opening at the box office, on Day 1.
As reported earlier, the Tamil Nadu advance booking collections of Jana Nayagan are not completely opened yet, due to ongoing issues with the film's censor certification. The Tamil Nadu censor board has not issued the certificate for Thalapathy Vijay's final film, citing that they received an anonymous complaint. In that complaint, it has been alleged that the H Vinoth directorial has a few scenes and dialogues that hurt religious sentiments.
If the Jana Nayagan team receives a favourable verdict from the Madras High Court on the issue, the film will release on Friday, January 9, 2026, as planned before. If the court order doesn't favour the Thalapathy Vijay starrer, the release of the film will be pushed out of the Pongal 2026 weekend.
