Jana Nayagan Censor Case Judgement Pushed Again: Will Vijay's Film Release Anytime Soon? The Tamil cinema audiences had the biggest disappointment this Pongal, as the release of Thalapathy Vijay's final film got postponed at the last minute, due to censor issues. Jana Nayagan censor certificate case was presented in front of the Madras High Court yet again Tuesday (January 20, 2026), but the Vijay fans are left disappointed yet again.

Jana Nayagan Censor Case Judgement Pushed Again

As per the recent updates, the Madras High Court had a detailed hearing on the Jana Nayagan censor case on Tuesday, has reserved its judgement for another day. If the reports are to be believed, the court has already finished hearing the arguments and analysing the evidences. However, the judging panel is planning to take some time to deliberate and prepare a detailed verdict, which may take a few more days.

The recent updates suggest that the judging panel suggested that the examining committee cannot be equated with the Censor Board itself. Reportedly, the senior advocate Parasaran, who appeared in the behalf of Jana Nayagan makers KVN Productions, has also requested the the Bench to look into a 2021 judgement of the Supreme Court, which tackled a similar issue.

Jana Nayagan New Release Date: What Is In Store For Vijay's Film?

According to the latest updates, there are high chances for the Madras High Court to produce a verdict favouring Jana Nayagan. However, this doesn't mean that the Thalapathy Vijay starrer will finally get a chance to release in theatres. If the censor board decides to continue with its objection over the film's release, there are chances for it to file an appeal in the Supreme Court of India.

Along with Thalapathy Vijay, the upcoming action-packed entertainer directed by H Vinoth, features a massive star cast including Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, and others in key roles. Anirudh Ravichander is composing the songs and the original score, for the film.
