Jana Nayagan, which was submitted for censor certification a few weeks back, is yet to get the same despite following the board's instructions and making all necessary changes.

The Jana Nayagan team moved to the Madras High Court and filed a plea for the issuance of the censor certificate, after the board failed to issue the same. However, the recent updates suggest that the court has pushed the hearing to a new date.

As per the latest updates, the Madras High Court refused to hold a hearing on the urgent plea filed by the Jana Nayagan team today (January 6, 2026), due to undisclosed reasons. The new reports suggests that the court has decided to conduct the hearing on the censor delay case tomorrow (Wednesday, January 7, 2026). The new update came out as a big shock for the Thalapathy Vijay fans and cinephiles, as this move will further delay the film's advance bookings in Tamil Nadu.

Even though the Jana Nayagan advance bookings have been open in the neighbouring state Kerala and almost all the prominent overseas centers, the Tamil Nadu audiences are still unable to book their tickets. The distributors and theatre owners are reluctant to kickstart the advance booking sales in the state, as the censor certification is crucial for the film's smooth release.
